BearTrack Farm Pottery
Wood-Fired
Porcelain & Stoneware
Welcome to BearTrack Farm's website. It is our hope
that this site will help you understand what it is that we do by
providing a place for you to see the latest results from our
firings. BearTrack Farm Pottery is a family affair.
As a studio potter, Julene Kielman, works at the wheel
throwing both classic and contemporary forms. After years of
practice, these forms have developed into a line of pottery unique
to BearTrack Farm. The pottery is thrown from
porcelain and stoneware clays using American innovations along with
traditional methods. Michael Kielman is
responsible for the glazing, while the whole family must help with
the labor intensive processes involved in
wood-firing. Each signed piece of pottery is
hand-thrown, bisque fired, glazed and finally fired once again in a
wood-fired kiln to temperatures over 2300F. The result is an
exquisite glaze finish on a porcelain or stoneware clay body
which has been ultimately decorated by the path of the
flame. Glaze colors are achieved through reduction
wood-firing. Presently, we are working with a palette of
glazes based upon the use of iron oxide as the main coloring agent.
Celadon, temmoku, and shino glazes are featured in Beartrack
Farms's current offering of porcelain and stoneware glaze
recipes.
"The primary interest at BearTrack Pottery is in wood-firing wheelthrown forms.
A glaze palette is being developed to work with and enhance
the natural characteristics of wood-firing to augment the decorative
process. After over thirty years of ongoing study,
working to obtain the skills and processes needed to produce quality
porcelain and stoneware pottery, BearTrack Farm Pottery has for the
first time a limited offering of pots available for public purchase.
If you are interested in obtaining a piece for your collection
or home, please contact us by phone, mail or e-mail. We look
forward to hearing from you."

Thank you for
visiting the BearTrack Farm Website. Be sure to come back and
visit again. I will try and keep this up to date, if you will
let me know that you are visiting. When you want
to visit the farm, let us know and we will have the coffee on.
Our specialty is a mug of coffee, cappuccino, with Beartrack
Farm's Wildflower Honey. And yes, that is Bailey and Annie
behind the wheel. Now I have some pots to trim.
